B. Sc in Medical Laboratory Technology

Medical Laboratory Technology is a branch of medical science in performing clinical laboratory investigations which is the first step of diagnosis of any diseases followed with treatment and prevention. The course covers preclinical subjects such as Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Blood Banking and Basics in laboratory equipment.

The programme provides knowledge and training for opted candidates to place in different clinical laboratories. Students enrolled are imparted training in laboratory management ethics through practical sessions, internal assessment, viva-voce and clinical postings in every semester. B. Sc in Anaesthesia and Operation Theater Technology

Aims to develop health professionals who are competent to work in healthcare settings with skills specific to anaesthesia technology. Anaesthesia technologists are involved with all aspects of care delivery to patients who are in need for perioperative aesthetic care and provide a key role in the emergency resuscitation of patients, taking into account the patients’ religious and cultural beliefs and respecting their right to medical privacy and dignity at all times.

Operation Theatre Technology is demanding and emergent needs of experts in the fields of Operation Theatre Management, medical ethics, Anaesthesia Technology, post-operation care. The Operation Theatre and Anaesthesia Technologist are responsible for direct and indirect patient care, equipment set up and operation procedures. They need to be trained to assist the surgeons during the procedures and assume responsibility for completion of other functions as assigned.

B. Sc in Anaesthesia and Operation Theater Technology

  • PO1:Demonstrate basic knowledge of pathophysiology of common conditions requiring surgical procedures 
  • PO2:Prepare the operation theater, load and label requested drugs, gather and assemble the surgical equipment for common surgical procedures as per the complexity and duration.
  • PO3:Recognize the anxiety of patients in peri-operative state and appropriately assist to shift, induce anaesthesia and position patient for surgical procedure.
  • PO4:Assist consultant in emergency department while receiving acutely ill patients, stabilize them and transport in or out of hospital as per the individual needs.
  • PO5:Organise drugs, equipment and monitors for procedures outside operation theater including endoscopies, imaging, electro convulsive therapy and transport etc. and monitor through the procedure
  • PO6:Function as a member of rescue / code blue team in recognising cardiac arrest and participate in revival cum cardiopulmonary resuscitation inside and outside hospital.
  • PO7:Manage the overall upkeep of the equipment used in intensive care unit and transport of critically ill patients and assist the specialist in resuscitation, management and transfer of such patients with appropriate paraphernalia.
  • PO8:Contribute in planning, setting up, commissioning, maintaining and managing operation theater, emergency departments, and intensive care unit, cardiac catheterization lab and emergency response services as a team member.
  • PO9:Engage oneself in self-assessment and structure their continuing professional education to refine existing skills and acquire new skills for patient care and professional advancement.
