The Department of Mechanical Engineering at BGS Institute of Technology (BGSIT) was established in 2005 with a vision of producing competent and sustainable mechanical engineers through excellence, innovations, and ethics. The department offers a rigorous B.E. programme alongside Ph.D. research opportunities.
The department is well-equipped with modern laboratories including machine shop, CNC & automation lab, CAD/CAM facility, and thermal engineering lab. Students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and manufacturing processes from the early semesters.
With a strong focus on industry interaction, the department promotes partnerships with leading automotive and manufacturing companies. Faculty actively engage in research, consultancy, and the development of entrepreneurial skills among students through CAAP/CMTI certification programmes.

Dear colleagues and students, welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at BGSIT — Adichunchanagiri University.
We have a strong undergraduate program in mechanical engineering. The primary focus of our curriculum is to impart technical know-how to students, promote their problem solving skills and innovation of new technologies. Department plans to offer interdisciplinary courses. Students are encouraged to take projects with social relevance and focus on agricultural equipment and energy saving sectors. Beyond lectures, the department takes interest in personality development, career counseling, and mentoring.
Faculty members have excellent academic credentials and are involved in cutting edge research with publications in high impact journals. If you have any queries after browsing the department webpage, please contact me.
I wish all the Students and Faculty a great academic career.
