Adichunchanagiri University proudly hosts an active Youth Red Cross Wing, open to students from all disciplines.

The Youth Red Cross (YRC) is one of the most active constituent units of the Indian Red Cross Society — a voluntary humanitarian organisation established under the Indian Red Cross Society Act XV of 1920, headquartered in New Delhi. It is a student movement for young people aged 18 to 25, with the objective of developing leadership qualities, humanitarian values, social responsibility and service-mindedness among youth. Under the guidance of the Programme Officer, our volunteers take part in a wide range of community-oriented programmes and humanitarian service activities.

Youth Red Cross volunteers are the builders of the nation — serving humanity with compassion, commitment and responsibility.

Fundamental Principles
The Seven Principles of the Red Cross Movement

Every Youth Red Cross volunteer upholds the seven Fundamental Principles that guide the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement across the world.

1
Humanity

To prevent and alleviate human suffering, protect life and health, and ensure respect for every human being.

2
Impartiality

No discrimination as to nationality, race, religion, class or political opinion — relief is guided solely by need.

3
Neutrality

To enjoy the confidence of all, volunteers take no sides in hostilities or controversies of any nature.

4
Independence

The Movement is autonomous — volunteers act independently while respecting the laws of the country.

5
Voluntary Service

A voluntary relief movement not prompted in any manner by the desire for gain.

6
Unity

There can be only one Red Cross society in a country, open to all and serving its entire territory.

7
Universality

A worldwide movement in which all societies have equal status and share equal responsibilities.
