The Department of Civil Engineering at BGS Institute of Technology (BGSIT) was established in 2009 with an undergraduate intake of 60 students. The department is committed to achieving academic excellence by providing quality technical knowledge and research with ethics, producing civil engineers who contribute to nation-building through sustainable infrastructure development.
The department offers two M.Tech programmes — Structural Engineering (started 2013, intake 18) and Infrastructure Management (started 2020, intake 18) — providing advanced specialisation pathways for students pursuing higher education and research.
With well-equipped laboratories for surveying, geotechnical engineering, structural analysis, and environmental engineering, students gain practical experience in modern construction techniques, BIM, AutoCAD, and STAAD.Pro software. The department also offers consultancy services in planning, structural design, and material testing.
Eligibility Criteria
Analysis and design of reinforced concrete, steel, and composite structures. Earthquake-resistant design, pre-stressed concrete, and advanced structural modelling using STAAD.Pro.
