State-of-the-art clinical simulation facility equipped with advanced manikins and training models for safe, competency-based procedural skills training.
The Skills & Simulation Lab at BGS Medical College is a dedicated training facility where medical students practice clinical procedures on manikins and simulators before performing them on real patients. This approach ensures patient safety while building clinical confidence and procedural competence in students.
Equipped with a comprehensive range of high-fidelity and task-specific simulators, the lab supports training across all phases of the MBBS curriculum — from basic life support and venipuncture in Phase I to advanced airway management and obstetric simulation in clinical phases.
The lab is coordinated by the Medical Education Unit and sessions are scheduled throughout the academic year, with competency sign-off assessments ensuring every student achieves the required proficiency before clinical postings. Regular BLS and ACLS certification programmes are also conducted for students, interns and hospital staff.
Advanced airway management trainer for intubation, ventilation and emergency airway procedures.
High-fidelity cardiac auscultation and ECG simulation for heart sound training and cardiac assessment.
Birthing simulation manikin for normal and assisted deliveries, breech presentation and obstetric emergencies.
Gynecological examination trainer for pelvic examination, Pap smear and IUD insertion procedures.
Adult, paediatric and infant CPR manikins with real-time feedback for Basic Life Support certification training.
IV cannulation arms, intramuscular injection pads and phlebotomy trainers for safe injection technique practice.
Suturing practice pads with various wound types for training interrupted, continuous and mattress suture techniques.
Automated External Defibrillator training units for cardiac arrest response simulation and emergency protocols.
The Skills & Simulation Lab provides a safe, controlled environment where students can make mistakes, learn and improve before treating real patients — a cornerstone of the CBME approach to medical education.
CPR technique, AED use and choking management for adults, children and infants.
Rhythm recognition, defibrillation, advanced airway management and cardiac arrest algorithms.
Endotracheal intubation, LMA insertion, bag-mask ventilation and emergency cricothyroidotomy.
Spinal needle insertion technique, CSF collection and patient positioning on dedicated task trainers.
Normal vaginal delivery, breech management, shoulder dystocia and postpartum haemorrhage scenarios.
The Skills & Simulation Lab at BGS Medical College ensures every student gains hands-on procedural competence in a safe, supervised environment before clinical practice. Enquire about training schedules and certification programmes.
