The Department of Community Medicine at BGS Medical College & Hospital is a centre of excellence in promoting health, fostering learning, leadership, and innovations in public health. As a para-clinical department, it prepares future community physicians equipped to function effectively in diverse public health settings.
The department emphasises competency-based, interdisciplinary education with a focus on the Indian health situation, the health care system, and community-based learning — including the Family Adoption Programme that gives MBBS students longitudinal exposure to family medicine and the social determinants of health.
