The ACU Libraries are designed to meet the needs of different programmes, campuses, and user communities. State-of-the-art facilities at each location offer unique spaces, collections, and services, all supported by a dedicated team of library staff committed to providing physical and virtual access to knowledge.

Virtual Library & Digital Resources

ACU Virtual Library is an online digital platform that provides remote access to a vast and well-organised collection of electronic resources, including e-books, e-journals, and databases. It supports a wide range of disciplines such as medical and allied health sciences, pharmacy, nursing, engineering, natural sciences, humanities and social sciences.

The library's collections and services are fully automated using Koha library management software, while DSpace CRIS repository software is used to digitise and manage institutional resources.

Additionally, the library offers consultancy, research support, and discovery services to assist academics and researchers in staying up to date with advanced scientific tools.

Goals & Objectives
Goals

To support the curriculum and its development with the most relevant and up-to-date information resources.

To provide both intellectual and physical access to learning materials in a variety of formats.

To support academic excellence, faculty research, and contribute to student success by improving reference and library instruction services.

To build a network among all constituent libraries by adopting specialised software, tools, and technologies.

To provide access to learning materials on the use of open learning platforms.

To establish an institutional repository for the preservation and dissemination of knowledge.

To conduct information literacy programmes for library users as an activity of the ACU libraries.

Objectives
  • To acquire both physical and digital collections across all ACU libraries and enhance service capabilities to meet the needs of curriculum, instruction, and research.
  • To adopt the collection analysis system while acquiring content for the programmes, considering factors of growth particularly in newer areas of inquiry.
  • To ensure easy access to collections through the use of emerging integrated technology.
  • To integrate all ACU constituent libraries by implementing specialised software, tools, and technologies.
  • To establish strong linkages with government agencies such as INFLIBNET, the National Digital Library of India, and open learning portals.
  • To support the preservation of knowledge created by research centres and constituent colleges of ACU.
  • To promote information literacy as an activity of the library in enhancing the skills of stakeholders.

Rules & Regulations
1Identity Card Required

An identity card or library card is compulsory for accessing the library.

2Lost Card Procedure

The loss of a library card should be reported to the librarian. A duplicate card may be issued upon submission of a formal application and payment of a fine. Library cards are valid for the entire duration of the course.

3Personal Belongings

Belongings such as bags, aprons, and other receptacles are not allowed inside the library and must be left at the property counter. Personal belongings should not be left unattended. The library cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage.

4No Personal Books

Personal books are not allowed inside the library.

5Exit Inspection

All users leaving the library must present all books, folders, papers, etc., in their possession at the entrance counter. Users may also be required to open any receptacle carried out of the library for inspection.

6Loan Facilities

Students and staff members can avail themselves of loan facilities for up to 5 books for 15 days and 2 journal issues for a period of 2 days.

7Loss or Damage

Loss or damage to library materials on loan should be reported immediately. The user must pay the cost of replacing a lost or seriously damaged book or journal, in addition to a fine.

8Handle with Care

All books, journals, and other library materials are to be used with care. No user shall deface library books by underlining or scribbling notes in the margins.

9Silence & Discipline

The library is meant for individual study. Conversation and group discussion inside the library is prohibited. Strict silence and discipline must be maintained.

10Library Decorum

Chairs, tables, and other library equipment must not be marked, defaced, or disarranged. Library decorum must be maintained.

11Mobile Phones

Mobile phones must be kept on silent mode inside the library.

12Computer Usage

Computers are for educational purposes only. Accessing unauthorised sites, playing games, etc., is strictly prohibited. Users should not change the settings of library computers.

13Compliance

The rules and regulations are subject to periodic reviews and revisions. Failure to comply may result in the loss of library privileges and may lead to institutional disciplinary action.
