The student wing of the Indian Red Cross Society at Adichunchanagiri University — a movement of young volunteers building leadership, humanitarian values and a spirit of service through community healthcare, blood services and social welfare.
The Youth Red Cross (YRC) is one of the most active constituent units of the Indian Red Cross Society — a voluntary humanitarian organisation established under the Indian Red Cross Society Act XV of 1920, headquartered in New Delhi. It is a student movement for young people aged 18 to 25, with the objective of developing leadership qualities, humanitarian values, social responsibility and service-mindedness among youth. Under the guidance of the Programme Officer, our volunteers take part in a wide range of community-oriented programmes and humanitarian service activities.
The Youth Red Cross is a student movement organised to develop leadership, humanitarian values and social responsibility among young people. At Adichunchanagiri University, students from every faculty can enrol as YRC volunteers and serve their community — promoting humanitarian values, health awareness, blood services and social welfare in the true spirit of the Red Cross.
To build a generation of socially responsible youth dedicated to humanitarian service, health awareness and community welfare.
To promote humanitarian values among students, to encourage voluntary service and social responsibility, to create awareness about health, hygiene and community welfare, and to develop leadership, teamwork and a service attitude among youth.
Every Youth Red Cross volunteer upholds the seven Fundamental Principles that guide the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement across the world.
To prevent and alleviate human suffering, protect life and health, and ensure respect for every human being.
No discrimination as to nationality, race, religion, class or political opinion — relief is guided solely by need.
To enjoy the confidence of all, volunteers take no sides in hostilities or controversies of any nature.
The Movement is autonomous — volunteers act independently while respecting the laws of the country.
A voluntary relief movement not prompted in any manner by the desire for gain.
There can be only one Red Cross society in a country, open to all and serving its entire territory.
A worldwide movement in which all societies have equal status and share equal responsibilities.
The YRC Unit at ACU works towards clear humanitarian and developmental goals for every volunteer and the community we serve.
Across four core domains, our volunteers carry humanitarian service from the campus into the community throughout the year.
From blood donation to environmental action, the YRC Unit marks key national and international days of service with awareness drives and volunteer-led campaigns.
