A campus committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals — embedding clean energy, ecological care, inclusive education and community well-being into the fabric of everyday university life.
Adichunchanagiri University (ACU) is deeply committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through education, research, outreach and campus-wide practices — embedding sustainability, social responsibility and inclusivity into everyday life.
To translate this commitment into action, ACU operates a dedicated SDG Cell in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), NSS Units, Eco Clubs and student organisations — designing programmes that align with the 2030 Agenda while fostering student leadership, innovation and community participation.
The 17 SDGs, adopted by the UN General Assembly in September 2015, represent a historic global agreement to pursue inclusive, sustainable and resilient development by 2030 — balancing economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection.
The 17 SDGs and 169 targets address poverty, hunger, health, education, climate, gender, water, energy, biodiversity and peace. Highlighted tiles below mark goals where ACU contributes through measurable, on-campus action.
ACU translates commitment into measurable action across multiple UN SDGs — operating as a living laboratory for environmental and social responsibility.

₹2 Cr+ scholarships annuallyFrom clean-energy generation to zero-discharge water management, ACU’s environmental practice spans four interconnected SDGs — turning everyday operations into lasting ecological gains.
Sustainable infrastructure and on-site renewable generation actively reduce ACU’s carbon footprint and power academic life.
Rainwater harvesting, recharge wells and decentralised wastewater treatment work together to restore groundwater and maintain zero discharge.
The campus is a strict plastic-free zone, with structured waste streams and resource recovery turning waste into energy.
Plantation drives, biodiversity enhancement and a horticulture-managed green campus support flora, fauna and continuous CO₂ capture.

Two flagship initiatives anchor the SDG calendar at ACU — mobilising students, faculty and the wider community around action on the 2030 Agenda.
Centred on ecological restoration and sustainability, organised by the SDG Cell with the IIC Cell and NSS Unit.
An annual celebration dedicated to advancing awareness and action across the 17 SDGs.
ACU students lead, organise and contribute to the SDG mission — through dedicated cells, skill-building, holistic wellness and rural engagement.
SDG Club, Eco Club and Innovation Club drive sustainability activities and student leadership across the year.
Workshops on entrepreneurship, coding, renewable technologies and innovation aligned with the goals.
Sports, yoga, meditation and cultural programmes support holistic student growth and inclusivity.
NSS units organise awareness camps, healthcare services and rural training programmes regularly.
ACU’s SDG agenda extends well beyond the campus — into rural communities, future infrastructure and collaborative networks across India and abroad.
From research collaboration to community deployments, we welcome universities, industries, NGOs and government partners committed to a sustainable, inclusive and resilient future.
