Build the skills that power the next generation of technology. A rigorous, industry-aligned four-year program at BGS Institute of Technology — 19 years of engineering excellence, 86%+ placement record.
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at BGSIT was established in 2005 with a founding cohort of 60 students. Through consistent academic quality and industry engagement, the department earned its first NBA accreditation — a recognition of curriculum quality, faculty competence, and outcome-based education.
Today, with an expanded intake of 300 students, the department offers B.E., M.Tech, and Ph.D. programs, supported by an AICTE-funded IDEA Lab, IEEE/CSI/ISTE chapter memberships, and a dedicated Training & Placement Cell that drives consistent 86%+ placement outcomes.

The B.E. CSE curriculum is designed to build depth in the technologies most in demand by industry today.
Data structures, OS, computer architecture, compilers — the foundational engineering knowledge that underpins all software.
Web technologies, databases, mobile apps, REST APIs — from frontend to backend to deployment in the cloud.
Statistical ML, neural networks, deep learning, NLP — preparing engineers for the AI-first economy.
Cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure concepts), containers, CI/CD, microservices architecture, and site reliability.
Cryptography, network security, secure software design, threat analysis, and ethical hacking fundamentals.
Internet of Things, edge computing, distributed ledger technology, and real-world smart systems engineering.
Click a year to explore the semester-wise subjects and learning outcomes.
Year 1 builds the mathematical, scientific, and programming foundations every CS engineer must master. Students are introduced to structured thinking, electronics, and the basics of computational problem-solving.
Year 2 dives into the core theory of computer science: efficient algorithms, data models, object-oriented design, and hardware-software interfaces. These subjects form the backbone of every software role.
Year 3 bridges theory and industry practice. Students study networked systems, secure software engineering, and web development — while completing a mandatory industry internship that counts toward their credits.
Year 4 is where students specialise. With open electives in AI, IoT, or Blockchain, and a semester-long major project in collaboration with an industry partner, graduates emerge as job-ready engineers.
